Origins Version 3: Why not two founder populations in Finland
There are two founder populations in Finland that cut diagonally over the country from north-west to south-east. This can easily be seen from the male Y-DNA, as 58% are of N1c and 28% of the I1. Both populations immigrated to the area mainly about 2000-1000 years ago, which means subclades have emerged...

I get 83% for that. But I get 3% Eastern European, which I know should be higher but on my map, the Central...

Issue with number of DNA matches
I am wondering if there is possibly an issue with my DNA kit (transfer from Ancestry) as I seem to have a very low amount of DNA matches. I recently noticed that my account only has 472 matches but I am sure I previously had much, much more than that! My mum's DNA has also been transferred under...

Saami People Autosomal Test Results?
I am wondering what autosomal DNA test and what values to find Saami (Sami) ancestry. My Saami ancestry is through my Paternal Grandmother and doesn't show on a Y-DNA test.
Thank you - Mike

Anyone have suggestions on analyzing the raw autosomal & X-chromosom data? Is there any value in comparing mine with other matches?

Problem accessing Chromosome browser
When I access my brother’s FTDNA home page and click on Chromosome browser, It takes me to a page for ordering tests. I do NOT get the chromosome charts and options for comparing individuals that I anticipated. I can access matches and relationships. How to Use Family Finder for Genealogy
I have written an easy-to-understand web page describing the use of FTDNA's Family Finder in genealogy. This test is an example of a massive autosomal DNA test.
Please take a look and then add any additional suggestions to this thread.

Autosomal DNA Testing and Genealogy
I was a Beta tester with 23andMe's Relaitive Finder and then FTDNA's Family Finder. These autosomal tests are helping me identify and contact distant cousins. By exploring common surnames and joining forces with these other genealogists, I am learning more about my ancestors.

Five Family Finder Links to Read and Save
I recently added three new pages to my DNA Testing Adviser web site with detailed information on FTDNA's new Family Finder test. I suggest you check these pages out and then save them. The third link includes a detailed comparison with 23andMe's Relative Finder. The last two links go to important Family...

I noticed that FTDNA and their chip supplier issued a joint press release today. After weeks of Beta testing and restricted availability, Family Finder is now open to everyone. Go to Family Tree DNA and click on the 5/3/10 news release under Family Tree DNA News.
