    Matches Bug or Confusion

I'm adopted. So I've been checking my results daily. I have 4 matches that are 1 step off on the 25, 37 and 67 markers. Two of those matches have surnames that I have other matches with with 1 step off in the 25 and 37.
So I clicked on TIPS from Y-DNA Matches and it shows my 1 step on all three...

Until now my strategy has been to search the 1910 census for households with a child matching her name and age, and then follow that family to...

    mother adopted, looking for relatives

    Hello All,
First, I am trying to find my mother's relatives (she was adopted). Currently I have a woman who matches as my mothers second cousin (and my third cousin). My mother was born in 1918 and the match was born in 1973, so I know they did not have the same great grandparents. How do I...

    Question about results

    Good Evening:

I am new to FTDNA and recently did my Y DNA (37 marker) as well as the Family Finder test.

    I. Results: 37 Marker, Genetic Distance -4 (1 match)

Does the "-4" mean that our ancestral link is all the more further away?
