Hi everyone. I just got my mom's results back. It confirms my mom's Jewish ancestry. I'm kinda surprised about the South Asian. Normally I get around 2%, but I didn't realize it was from my mom's side. Could it be attached to our Italian ancestry? Where could that be coming from?

I just had dna tribes snp analysis done. It's actually quite accurate. The diasporic groups I find very interesting, most of them being Jewish. Looks like Persian Jewish is the main population.

Actually southern Italians from Calabria, and Abruzzo have the highest amount of Jewish admixture, they also have the oldest Jewish communities....

As we know, Italy has a very long history with the middle east. For example my mom is over half Southern Italian, and she comes back 30% middle eastern. Family tree dna has a very hard time distinguishing between Italian, middle eastern, and Jewish.

I took a look at your kit on Gedmatch. My mom and I share 50cM total with your parents, however no larger than 4cM longest block. I assume you're heavily Italian, as that where we share dna. As far as Jewish, analysis of your kit says...

Brazil has the 2nd most of ethinic Italians on the planet. So a lot of your Southern Europe could be old Italian.
