Very helpful.
I think I will not spend anymore for now. I have my 67-marker Y-DNA and my "full" mtDNA sequence and that of my father. My mother died before DNA testing was around. Same with grandparents.
Thank you.

Match refinement/cost-benefit analysis
I did not test my father's Y-DNA but did test mine. I have two questions:
(1) Is there any benefit to my paying for a 111-marker test for my dad *in lieu of* upgrading my own from 67 to 111? Certainly it is more cost-effective to upgrade my 67 than pay for a whole new set of 111.

The Bogus-ness of DNA Testing for Genealogy Research

I personally would like a refund for my $600. I really do feel that either by artifice or accident, the results provided me are not what I thought I would be getting and were construed at the time of sale as being closer in time to me than they actually are.
I would be willing to bet there...Last edited by rosebud; 20 August 2010, 04:56 PM.

Seems like a "cool tool," that is ultimately useless, but pretty.

Disappointed
I have all my 4G grandparents down pat on paper (with supporting evidence) and can go back to 5G in many cases. Yet, my FF matches are not coming up with any definitive hits. I am getting surname matches, but it seems the matches know little about their extended roots, or I am missing something....Last edited by rosebud; 15 August 2010, 10:20 AM.
