After my paternal grandfather passed in 1993 it hit me. Why was he so dark complected and I was such a whitey? It was then I started asking my grandmother about him. Per story he was Cherokee descent (how many times have we all heard that one). I found his father, my gg via census but he was listed...

Its interesting that I get the R1a Polish on the haplo test yet I dont match anyone on the polish dna project. I could be wrong but it seems I am not far off on some scottish matches on the scottish dna project. I mean I find closer matches than other projects. I joined every project that would allow...

L12
So I tested negative for the L12 snp. Ftdna has multiple asterisks next to other available snp's but it is somewhat confusing. Are some more important than others?
Any ideas of which snp's would be the best to test?
This is getting pretty tuff considering I don't really...

Any ideas of origin
It would be cool to hear anyone's ideas on my paternal origins. I know many people here understand this alot more than me. On ysearch and ftdna I am kind of all over the place. I check frequently for updates but get the same info over and over. I don't understand the significance of my matches since...

Sorry I didnt see your reply!!
I will take a look at the thread. To my knowledge, nobody in the carolina's. Arkansas is as far as I could get. Btw, I have joined a few sites. On the Bell DNA study page, I am the only r1a1 or r1a1a which makes my life oh so fun not matching any bell....

DYS values
Hi all. I belong to an r1a1 group on ancestry. The admin of the group breaks up everyone into regions. For example:Norman, Brit Isles, Ashkenazi etc. I was told it is based on ones dys values and last name. Is this possible? When I recieved my info from FTDNA it put me all over the map. I have...

That might be bellamy you saw I think the bell dna is 136 count? I am part of that but they dont have my R1A1 listed. Just my kit number. Ive emailed them multiple times regarding that. Again no R1a1's on the page. The other link you posted guild on one seems very interesting and I will follow...

Gtc
I am a newb so bare with me. What does that mean? More I can be tested for? Meaning I may not stop at m198?
Btw another frustrating thing. Don't know if it means not enough people have tested but in the Bell Dna study there are no R1a1's. As far as I know I am...
