Values
The first thing I would point out is that the results you are reading are not absolute values but rather percentages. It is not like counting the number of repeats occurring in a sequence. I believe that each facility is analyzing and interpreting the percentages of ethnic makeup...

Thank goodness that most people involved in genetic genealogy are not hung up on privacy. My self, I am too mediocre a person to warrant interest from any government body. If oneday I am against overwhelming odds singled out, I will just have to resign myself to the fact that I have been deemed insignificant...

I agree with Vinnie. I am too done with djknox. He has been presented with numerous cases of success which he summarily dismisses as not meeting his criteria. This is not a discussion, it is grand-standing. His point being that DNA testing did not work for him so it is worthless....Last edited by FredSpringer; 18 April 2013, 07:28 PM.

For me, the Springer genealogical history has been corrupted by con-men in the 1800s seeking to deceive Springer families into believing that there were riches to be inherited in Delaware. They set about contriving lineages and persons who never existed. They further compounded the family history...Last edited by FredSpringer; 13 April 2013, 03:28 PM.

When you say cannot help us, you mean cannot help you. There are many people who would find your view incredibly limited, not the benefits of DNA testing. Yours is not the sole case by which the tool is to be judged. I have myself enjoyed a good deal of success matching previously unknown family connections....

It is a Poor Craftsman Who Blames His Tools
DNA testing is not an end all answer nor is it a brick-wall battering ram. Just like court documents, grave yard headstones, family bibles, newspaper articles, etc it is a tool. It can be used to affirm, reject, suggest, cloud over, tantalize,...

Charles Springer was my ggggggg-grandfather. There is much mis-information about our line due in large part to a book penned in 1880 by Moses C. Springer which has been thouroughly denounced by Milton Rubincam, noted Genealogist as being greatly fictitious....

I can't say it bothers me when someone uses an alias instead of their real name. I find it more frustrating when they hide their genealogical information or make their DNA results unavailable, but that is their decision not mine and I live with it.
The use of an alias is now part of the...

Earlier, I did the $99 dollar special celebrating DNA Day at 23and me and at that time, there was no $5/month subscription. Since that time I have amassed hundreds of 3rd/4th/5th cousin matches. I have also tested with FTDNA and have under 100 3rd/4th/5th cousin matches. This is not to say that I...

The same issue exists whether I use I.E. 6 or I.E. 8, Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc...no locations. The fact that I see the problem in the upload process indicates to me that it is not a browser problem but a parsing problem of the new FTDNA GEDCOM application....

If you don't see the "Details" I assume you mean you don't see any of the information contained in the Pop Up Window which is not supported by some browsers. In that case using a browser which supports Active-X scripting is the solution. Active-X scripting is a security risk and many people...
