I have two Y-DNA SNPs on order in this batch. Hopefully they are in soon!

Like I said only ancient DNA can give us the answers we are seeking here. Y-DNA does seem to change more than mtDNA though among many populations as many migrations in the past were male biased or the communities practiced patrilocal marriage patterns where mtDNA haplogroups would then be widely dispersed...

It is impossible to truly know what the haplogroups of these ancient Uralic speaking ancestors of the Saami and Finns are without actual ancient DNA evidence but I have a feeling that they are mostly probably N1c1 and I1 for Y-DNA and U5b1b1a1 for mtDNA. There has been some speculation before and again...

I find the Y-DNA super haplogroups to be quite interesting. By super haplogroup I mean root haplogroups like IJ and P. As was mentioned P can also be called QR basically. When it comes to the peopling of West Eurasia these two super haplogroups are very important as they make up the majority of Y-DNA...

I am posting this as I think it can generate some good discussions and debates if others wish to chime in and share their thoughts on this topic. The Northern European ancestral component in the Dodecad Project makes up the largest ancestral component for many project participants including myself....

Yes it is fairly low I thought as well. But my Northern European is quite a bit higher than yours. It could be that some British Isles people score rather high in Northern European and others high in Atlantic. I have a feeling that my mother is probably a fairly even mix of Atlantic and Northern European....

My results for ''Fine scale analysis of Eurogenes' white Americans''. I am CA1. My results are pretty much right on with what I know of my own ancestry. I am 25% Italian (Calabria), 25% Finnish and 50% Irish/British Isles by paper trail ancestry. I think the new ADMIXTURE 1.1 test works best for people...

One thing I find kind of strange though is that my first cousin once removed who shares all of the exact same Finnish ancestors as I do (or should) shows up as 100% European while I show 46.58% Northeast European. She is more Finnish that I am even.
Maybe I received more Northeast European...

Oooops lol your right sorry. It should be 25% Italian, 25% Finnish and 50% Irish/British Isles....

My results are very similar to yours. I am 25% Italian, 25% Finnish and 25% Irish/British Isles descent. My high Northeastern European result most likely comes from my Finnish ancestry.
Do you yourself also have some Finnish or other Northeastern European ancestry?...

I completely agree. I had my grand uncle tested on Family Finder and we share 972.43 cM and our longest block is 57.36. We share many segments indeed. This would translate out to very close the ''expected'' shared amount of DNA between a grand uncle and a grand nephew I think....

Central European Farmers Not Descended From Local Hunter-Gatherers
Hey Everyone,
It appears that the hunter-gatherer remains in this study are mainly in mtDNA haplogroups U4 and U5! Woohooo! Finally some good evidence of mtDNA haplogroups of Neolithic farmers and European hunter-gatherers. Check out the link below.

Neolithic Migrations in the Near East and Aegean
I found this little write up on the J2 M172 blog to be very interesting. I again supports the haplogroup J2 Neolithic scenario which is still very logical. It seems that we J2s may have had a mysterious past when it comes to languages.

I think something that should be considered also is the possibility that some of the J2 in EUrope actually made it there before the Neolithic period. I think it is a possibility that some haplogroup J was in the Mediterranean area or even to the north before agriculture hit Europe. I may be wrong though....
