For some time I have noticed that new Big Y results have a wrong terminal SNP assigned if they have previously ordered some pack or separate SNP. This is reflected in the menus "Haplotree&SNPs"and "Big Y Matches".
Several Big Y results were just loaded in the project...

Flooded with identical emails
I have recieved around 1000 identical emails from FTDNA that a member has left a project I am an administrator of.
This is very frustrating as at the moment I am on holiday and have only a smart phone, which makes it hard to delete. At first I thought I have a virus, but another project administratir...

Sorry if I have offended you, but the question was how to recognize Roma ancestry by DNA testing. Of course, everybody is free to identify by other means or self proclaim....

Yes, the above study mentions them, it is behind a paid wall, but you can access the Supplementary data. The most typical, probably arriving with Roma in Europe are M5a1b1a1 and U3b1c.
Here is a more reliable study based on FMS tests:

Haplogroups can identify deep ancestry, and H1a is no doubt connected to Roma. However, if you are not into the direct male line very little is left autosomally a few generation on to prove Roma connection through DNA testing.
I mentioned above one of the criteria is to match known Roma. British...

Timothy, I just checked your results on 23andMe.
However, you have no South Asian there. If some other calculator is showing this, could be incorrect or highly speculative.
I checked also your Countries of Ancestry file and could not find any proven Roma among your relatives.
If...

I share with several full blood Balkan Roma on 23andMe.
There it is possible to see their Ancestry composition and at least some of their relatives with the tool Countries of Ancestry.
If they share multiple segments with other people, they are most probably with Roma origin. One and the...

There has been a study about whole genome Roma ancestry:
Reconstructing Roma History from Genome-Wide Data

South Asian in Europe generally is due to Roma ancestry, but not always. Sometimes...

I think this is not the case. Both James Lick tool and Ian Logan confirmed he is H27 with unknown subbranch.
It is most obvious this is a bug by his matches.
He has only 1 HVR1+HVR2 match, however around 100 H2a2a1 matches with 0 differences, which is impossible, theoretically he should...

Wrong assignment after upgrade Geno 2.0 - mtDNA FGS
Kit #N126988 was classified as H27 by Geno 2.0.
However after completing his mtDNA FGS test he was assigned as H2a2a1.
His results are correctly consistent with H27, however the assignment is very wrong. His matches are also wrong - shows hundreds of matches with 0 difference at HVR1+HVR2+Coding...

Pending Shipments to Lab is a complete mess.
Most Kit# are form the Unreceived Kits, but some with wrong names.
The Product shows again from the Unreceived kits, not the actual tests ordered and waiting to be batched.
