Hi Felix,
I don't see the problem. This person has the defining mutations for U9 and U9b. so she's a U9b.
Be careful you are not mixing up the rCRS and RSRS reference standards. FTDNA is still using rCRS for the certificates, but the newer RSRS for the default on personal...

Hi Violet,
I know of one case where the child has a 16093C mutation that the mother doesn't have. That position is highly variable and has many heteroplasmic examples.

Hi again,
The coding region is where genes are located. A very few are medically significant. If you put those on Ancestry and they get propagated to someone else's ancestors, they might at best cause confusion.
On GenBank, your results are only identified by your kit...

Hi,
First of all, I wouldn't put any of my DNA on Ancestry. It might get propagated somewhere it shouldn't be.
As I remember, Ancestry bought their mtDNA test from Relative Genetics; I'm not sure they still sell it. RG originally sold HVR1 and HVR2. In the olden days,...

Hi Ronda and all,
FTDNA's FMS Matches program is not working correctly right now. They fixed it on Tuesday and by Thursday it was broken again. Maybe DARREN is reading this.

You can buy all the CODIS markers from FTDNA. There used to be a website where you could plug in the results and get a geographical estimate.

Hi KATM and all,
You're probably right. But if they are going to keep finding ways to make my heart stop in the morning, I'm going to keep complaining. I do suspect it's the same department.
I don't consider the "fixes" trivial. I don't consider them fixes. Remember...

Hi RondaMiller,
That probably has something to do with whether or not have taken the FF test or have results. That's not important. What's important that they can find time to do the coding for these cosmetic changes, but not for substantial problems such as incorrect matches and subclade...

I notice that the mtDNA results are now shown in five columns per region instead of four. Wow. For personal reasons I like it better before. There is also animation on the Home screen.
However, the FMS matches are still wrong.

Cosmetic changes to personal pages
Hi all,
I just submitted the following to the helpdesk:
"I see you have made some changes to the personal pages. For example, under My Account, clicking on Personal Profile opens up that tab, but it also shows four other tabs that can be opened. The problem is that...

Hi all,
The "H1r" and zillion FMS matches problem has been fixed. But the problems of missing or miscounted FMS matches have not been fixed.

Hi all,
I reported the problem to the helpdesk a few minutes ago, before I checked here. It appears to affect only those with FMS results, just their badges and matches, not results.

FMS matches
Hi all,
For the last three days, at least, the FMS match step levels have been incorrect for new results. For example, one person in one of our K Ashkenazi subclades should have 53 exact matches, but instead they are listed as two-step matches. He is listed as a two-step match on their...
