Which recommendation was wrong? Removing the small segments less than 7cM?...

I don't see anything that would indicate he has Hawaiian (Polynesian) ancestry. It should be a combination of East Asian (Southeast Asian) and Oceanian....

I second that. It's common knowledge within the genetic genealogy community about the emphasis on a rather large total shared compared to a small longest block (largest segment) is an indicator of an endogamous population.
I have pages of 100cM and larger where the longest block is...

Phylotree Build 17
Now that I've been notified by other project members that their haplogroup change, finally updated to the current build, I noticed that many of my project members who were in the same haplogroup split off to various haplogroups. From what I can tell, those who were in the same haplogroup were not necessarily...

Since there aren't a lot of Asians getting DNA tested in general, these may not be accurate.
My Filipino aunt gets very distant matches to Vietnamese and I thought I saw some Chinese names in there. None has ties to the Philippines whatsoever.
So while that works in that...

Didn't realize you responded. Anyway, just tested that particular SNP here at FTDNA.
A project member just tested F706. I'm going to assume like what I did, you have to search for it....

Not a parent, but definitely a relative, turns out to be a 1/2 3rd cousin to my mother. My mom is now 72 and I found the connection last July, didn't get in touch with relatives until late October. Of course the chances of my mother's parents being alive were slim but I knew that.
There...

I managed to get the one Pitcairn person take an autosomal test and compare that person to two people whose 1 grandparent was from Norfolk island, of which was resettled by Pitcairn people in 1850.
