I ordered two V3 update kits back when they had a sale, so I got them both for $14 total (shipping and handling). I'm glad I've let them just sit now. At this rate I'll always be on the V2 over there.

I like this.
Granted it won't do me any good as I have no clue where my direct-maternal line is from and being female I'm useless for direct-paternal line info. The furthest back I can trace my direct-maternal line to is North Carolina, and I know good and well I'm not Native American.

FTDNA is the one telling me I have the markers for H7a1, yet is labeling me as H7a.
The marker for H7a1 is 16261T, which is in my HVR1 on here. It's RIGHT THERE, front and center, first thing I got and yet H7a I remain on here.It makes me wonder how many matches I really have....

Defining H Subclades
I recently got my results for 23andme back and they didn't quite match my FGS results.
Here I am H7a, but on 23andme I'm H7a1.
I wondered, what marker made the difference? So I went on a search and found it. It was marker 16261T. A marker that was on my HVR1 results! So why...

Here I am H7a, on 23andme I'm H7a1. It lists the same mutations for me though. 23 lists 16261 as being a marker for H7a1, and it's right there on my HVR1 here.

You won't get any first cousins (children of your mother and father's siblings) unless they test as well. I didn't do this test, I can't afford it. Even if I had I know I wouldn't get any results for first cousins as my family isn't as into genetic genealogy as I am and even if they were they wouldn't...

I watched the video for the mother's DNA on the discovery website. It was far easier to pause that video and collect information. I tried it with the one on his father, but the pauses were too blurry.
This is what I got for his mother.

I'm bumping this thread, since I have a very similar question.
Is there anyway I can upload FGS results to sites such as 23andme and Decodeme without having to buy their products? I would like to compare my mtDNA results with the people there, but there is no way I can afford their t...

This is fascinating, but I cannot see myself participating. Monetary issues aside, it seems this only tests for possible relatives AND said possible relatives must test as well.
It seems to much to spend just to MAYBE find out I might be related to someone. If I could find lost-cousins through...

Typo on "Understanding your H Subclade"
I tested my FGS and with all the other papers I received in the mail I got a paper titled "Understanding your H Subclade." While it doesn't tell me didily about my own subclade, it does tell me about the most popular ones.
H3 has a typographical error and I must say it doesn't...

If that's the case I don't want to deal with her at all. That just sounds wishy washy.
K, done talking about pricing....

I contacted SNPedia and how I have another question.
What strand does ftDNA use to test the FGS?
Let's use 1438G for example. That's r6311 on SNPedia. How do I know if I have rs6311(C;C) or rs6311(C;T)?

^ If you don't mind, how much did it cost you? PM or ballpark figure is good too.
