Nevermind. I just got my results. It never fails that as soon as I complain about something I'd rather I waited a bit more.

My pending results page for batch 117 states 9/1 or within a few days. It's now 9/17, so that's _wrong_ information. It's one thing to be late, another not to keep customers informed. If I knew it was going to be later, I'd check back later. Instead I check and am wasting my time. That's poor...

You agree there are group differences, but challenge even the weak assertion "partially due to differences in genes" by suggesting there's a paucity of evidence for a genetic basis and that environment is the determining factor.
You seem (imho) to be squirming around a conclusion...

I'm glad to hear, because dealing w/ stubborn irrationality is frustrating and disturbing. However, current PC does seek to deny group statistical differences. Like all false philosophies, there are internal contradictions. On the one hand diversity is celebrated; and also denied.

GaryJulian: I recommend going through the Genographic project as I've done.
1. The cost is less than the basic mtDNA and yDNA tests directly from ftdna, currently $99 for Genographic vs. $159 y and $129 mt from ftdna.
2. If you go through Genographic, you won't have...

josh: my motivation in posting is a loss of patience w/ PC (as I perceived it in your post, unfairly or not).
PC is intellectual dishonesty... which is bad; honesty is good.
It's obvious that the physical foundation for abstract intelligence is inherited, even if it's difficult...Last edited by rconn2; 5 August 2005, 12:25 AM.

PMFJI, but re: #2, why are you placing non-intellectual explanations for intellectual attainment in the forefront? Common sense suggests looking at intellectual factors. And who are your annointed "experts on intelligence"? Hernnstein and Murray? (doubtful). Your post comes across as...

You have to mark each $99 genographics kit as to whether you're Male or Female. I think they did this so Females wouldn't ask for Y tests, and Males wouldn't get confused about which to request... to keep it simple for the public.
Anyway, my understanding is that if you're a male and...

The Mitochondria though, isn't central to our genetic makeup -- the powerplant of the cell, but not directly involved in our phenotype. And as said the Y is only a small percentage of our nuclear DNA.
Certainly it's fascinating being able to directly trace an unshuffled lineage through...

Why do you believe there will be no benefit to the genographics project from individual participation?
My understanding is that if we opt-in, we will be asked questions about family ancestry -- place of origin of parents, grandparents and so on. That information is clearly useful....

I was pleasantly surprised by the intelligent response to my email from ftdna. So, it looks like we have total flexibility -- genographics to ftdna and vice versa, involvement with both, and the ability to get all the testing done we desire.

Hi. I'm new to this forum, but received some info re: the genographics project and ftdna. Here's the substance of some correspondence wth ftdna.
