Revolver, the answer to your question is for sure NO.
Y STR do predict your general haplogroup but do not confirm it. There are many cases where FTDNA do need at least Y-37 to do a good prediction.

Because they are closed family members, an autosomal test (like family finder) is enough.
If your child is your biological son then you only need to test your grandchild. You can compare his autosomal test with yours.

Upgrading from y37 (or y67) to y-dna 111 would not bring significant benefits. Upgrading to Big-Y would be the best for everyone.
Considering that you are at Y-DNA 111 level, the best that you can do now is for yourself to upgrade to Big-Y and also upload to YFull.
