Issue with number of DNA matches

Both my test and my mum's test are v 2.0. My results are from Aug 2017, mum's Dec 2018. I paid to unlock my FTDNA kit in March 2019 and I am certain I had way more matches at the start.
I see matches that are 3rd-5th cousins and my setting is matching at all levels.
