Don't some of the Native American mtDNA haplogroups come from East Asian haplogroups? I think C comes from M which is East Asian.

When I took the test the first time I got 5 percent East Asian and over 50 percent Native American. When I took the test again about a year later the East Asian was gone and the Native American was higher, 61 percent. So in my case the East Asian and Native American appear to be the same thing....

The last time I checked, ABDNA assumes that ancestry is split in half with each generation. So, if your mom got 11 percent, then her parent had double that and their parent had double that, and their parent had double that, etc.
So it's possible that her great grandparent was full blooded...

Isn't it true that the X test reveals the father's maternal line? In a situation like burto's mom and my mom who don't know anything about their fathers, could we get a clue about their father's ancestry that way? I know that my mom shares some X markers in common with someone else whose ancestor is...

A lot of people express disappointment toward the DNA Tribes test because they don't get any Native American matches when they know they have NA ancestry. You might get Mestizo, though, but not everyone does....

rainbow, I got 60 percent Native American on AncestryByDNA and I don't get any Native American matches on DNATribes. Obviously even that much isn't enough. I did get Mestizo as the top score in the World Region but no matches to any specific tribes, not even the ones my parents are from.
