Pretty much this, I will add that the OP linked to the SNP Browser which is not fully connected into the BigY testing results. Only positive results from the BigY get included in the SNP Browser.
Chances are you can goto your BigY "Results" section, set the "Derived?"...

It gets to be all kinds of "fun" with those metrics. Some other companies have "secret sauce calculations" they use based on assumptions about mutations rates in particular regions of the genome(which may not have much academic/scientific support). I seem to recall reading somewhere...

It happens, on Ancestry, I show as 9% Eastern European, my father shows 0% despite his paternal grandparents hailing from the Duchy of Bohmeia(Czechia today). He has a 1st cousin who shows as 72% Eastern European, and a 2nd cousin scoring as 92% Eastern European, so we know exactly which line my 9%...Last edited by bartarl260; 22 March 2020, 05:15 PM.

BigY, and Y37 are very different products. STR processing is pretty quick, if you didn't have a Y111 panel previously, you should be seeing one very soon as they'll release that when done for BigY generally speaking. The rest of the Y700 and the SNP results will generally lag weeks or even months behind...

Should follow up on this for a moment real quick since I decided to check on it in a project I'm helping admin and can get to some of that information rather than just rely on past experience.
The oldest outstanding Y700 test kits that project has at the moment with results still pending...

The other question that needs to be asked regarding Y-DNA is:
Do you mean a STR test, or a SNP test?
STR results usually tend to come back within a month or so of processing starting.
As for SNP testing.... In some haplogroups, FTDNA is notorious for taking several months(beyond...

I have a litlle over a dozen GD0 matches at 12 markers(most are from a clan of Kuwaiti's who share a roughly 5,000 year old common ancestor with me), a few dozen are [email protected] markers(in a common project so I can see them, and they are overwhelmingly from Europe as expected), a solitary match at 25 markers(aside...

Don't trust the TiP on a Y-12 match. It can be extremely off base.
STR Convergence is a HUGE problem at the Y12 level, and is acknowledged by ISOGG's wiki as having struck as deeply as [email protected]
But as an example in my own case, for [email protected] I am exact match with a clan of Kuwaiti's....

Oh my, years have blended together. 2019 in most of my last post should be 2018. Although Y700 did come around in January 2019.
So it should have read:...

To throw my own into the mix:
I share 3,384centimorgans with my father on FamilyFinder. He has 1 half-brother, 1 half-sister, and 1 full sister. As such, autosomal DNA makes it virtually impossible for somebody else to be my father.
We are:
GD1 at 25 markers
GD2 at 37...Last edited by bartarl260; 1 March 2020, 05:15 AM.

Admins for pretty much any group should be saying that these days. The only reason to test less than that is if you simply will not be able to afford a BigY test anytime in the foreseeable future....

Better results than I can reasonably expect to find, I'm at GD2 with my father by the Y37 panel(autosomal testing makes it clear he is my father). So seeing someone that isn't a sibling or some flavor of Nephew or child/grandchild turning up as GD0 for me would be an anomaly in and of itself.

For completeness:
The BigY500 test initially only included the Y67 test, or at least it did as of the time I joined this site in early 2019.
The Y111 remained its own separate addon. About November-ish of 2019 they changed the Y500 to included the Y111 as part of the test....

Waaay late to the party but... We had this come with a maternal match to my FF test where we decided to get my mother testing using Family Finder rather than stick with the transfer from Ancestry. We had to open a support ticket with FTDNA and wait a few days for it to be erased from the system, but...
