Sibling DNA Confusion
I have identified 2 brothers who are confirmed (by DNA and Paper Trail) as 3C1R. They share the SAME Biological Parents but there is a large difference the amount of DNA they share with me - one is 52cM the other is 14 cM. Is this unusual?

I have tried to breakthrough this problem and so far I have managed to identify others by using my own Spreadsheet (even at my advanced age I can just about use a simple spreadsheet!). I trawl all the Matches I have (eg FTDNA/MyHeritage/GEDmatch etc) and then group them on my sheet by Matches/Triangulation/Shared...

I share any Privacy or Security concerns that any Member might have and hopefully have only encouraged debate on what may be a help to others.
I consider myself still very much a DNA Novice .. I am also trying to use what little knowledge I have of excel to produce my own way of analysing...

GEDmatch Kits
Suggestion - is it feasible that FTDNA Members could enter an associated GEDmatch Kit No on their Profile?
I use the Advanced Search feature regularly and if I click on a Match it would be a great help if the Pop-Up Profile showed whether they have Uploaded to GEDmatch.
I...

There will be plenty of knowledgeable Members who will no doubt respond to your questions in detail.
In the meantime I would suggest Betty doing a Family Finder Test with FTDNA and then uploading results to GEDmatch.com

Many thanks for all the useful Comments. I have now passed on the suggestions to my Contact who is grateful that there may now be a way forward.

Good advice! I shall advise her to do a FF Test and see if she can encourage her brothers to also test.
Her 2 x GGrandfather is on her Mother's side and there are no known relatives who could be tested.
The advantage (!) she may eventually have is that the families have...

Which Tests(s)?
A Contact of mine is trying to discover the name of her 2xGGrandfather's Father. She has taken an Ancestry Test which I have advised she should upload to FTDNA and GEDmatch to find other matches. She obviously cannot take a Y-DNA Test and her Autosomal Tests are unlikely to be particularly useful. She...

Should I?
I have done both FF and Y-DNA 111 Tests but am finding it difficult to determine whether Matches in FF are Maternal or Paternal. Would an additional mtDNA Test help to differentiate? Y-DNA matches do not necessarily appear in FF results.

Unknown GGrandfather
I have taken Y-67 and Y-111 tests to identify my Paternal Surname - my Grandfather was illegitimate and therefore has his Mother's name. I hope one day it may, with a Paper Trail, lead me to my Great Grandfather.
Y-67 showed 5 matches, 3 of which were Burke at GD5.
Y-111 showed...

GEDmatch Genesis
Anybody else experiencing problems with Genesis (from GEDmatch)? I uploaded 2 Kits a week ago - 1 is shown as 'Pending Migration' and the other 'Kit has not yet completed matching with other kits'.

I have had problems with YSearch for some time now and suspected something was going on. I have deleted my User Account - does this mean my DNA Records have also been deleted? Also, apart from GEDmatch are there any other Tools that a Novice User can benefit from?

Sorry just wanted to get straight to the problem. It is Y-DNA. Another Tester (who I no longer have contact with) gave me the Kit Number of a relative of theirs to do a comparison. I was looking for a quick way of comparing without trawling through a large number of potential matches to find the Kit...
