Some research has been done on Dick's family. The people that have been contacted thus far (0 distance) are not in Dick's known tree, nor are any of Dick's known ancestors in their tree. Dick's tree is known back to the patriarch being born in 1842. (great-grandfather of Dick) The others that have...

which to use more - haplogroup or genetic distance
Hello,
Concerning the Y-DNA matches report. Is it more important to look at matches that are in the same haplogroup, or those that have a smaller genetic distance?
The report that I have shows two results that are both 0 distance and the same haplogroup. Those matches with...

y-STR markers - should 0 distance compare these?
Hello, "Dick" has two matches in his y-DNA at a distance of 0 So, the common ancestor is at about 4-5 generations. I have the y-STR results for Dick. Is it important to compare Dick's STR with the STR results of the two matches at a distance of 0? If so, what is it that would be good...

family tree not showing completely
Hello, I have been using FTDNA for quite a long time.
Usually, when I go to my family tree, it takes up the entire page. However, today, it is taking up just about 2 inches (width) of the entire screen, and these 2 inches are in the middle of the screen.
Any ideas as to why?...

How to removed kit from FTDNA
Hello,
Currently, I have a kit at FTDNA. I have done the Family Finder only.
I would like the kit to be removed. I no longer want to have any of the matches available for viewing by anyone else.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks, Maggie

Hi,
Still learning about mtDNA.
I have many matches that are a distance of 0. My understanding is that if this is the case, then there is a better chance that we will match "closer" female ancestor than if the distance is 1 or higher.
I have the Haplogroup. Do I do an...

What I did was to do the Contact form - and, also posted on Facebook page. What they had to do was to remove the data from the kit (that was created when I first tried to download the autosomal data). This took about 2 weeks - I received an email when this had been done. I just uploaded the autosomal...

Hello again,
One further question.
Since there are 3 of us sisters, would the X that we received from father (should be the same for all of us) be the area where we all match in yellow?
It is interesting because our graph does not show the same areas of...

prairielad,
Ok. I looked at the X one-to-one match. This is what I see:
Chr Start Location End Location Centimorgans(cM) SNPs
X 2,321 154,886,292 194.8 15,841
The full base pair matching (green)is shown on...
