Ashkenazi Questions
So, I'm apparently 0.4% Ashkenazi per 23andme. Nothing shows for FT, Ancestry, or Myheritage. I hear 23andme is most accurate for Ashkenazi as well. Gedmatch Jtest has me 4%. The 0.4% apparently means that I had a 4x or greater great-grandparent that was full Ashkenazi. I'm also matched to a 1st cousin...Last edited by hollifer; 12 July 2017, 10:28 AM.

Speaking of this feature. There's a person that I wanted to see who we have in common. He's a 5th-remote cousin. It shows no matches when I use this feature. But a close cousin is showing him as a match when I choose her and use this feature. When I'm in hers and my shared matches, I then click on him,...

We may have communicated about that project before. I tried finding the alleles on my raw data, but I did a search find and didn't match, or was reading it wrong. I assure you that I'm a natural redhead, came out of the womb with red hair. I'll look into it, though.
My dad's facial hair...Last edited by hollifer; 30 May 2017, 03:52 PM.

See? Told you I was confused. That actually did occur to me after I wrote.
Thanks for clarifying. It makes more sense now. I think it's best to not pay too much attention to X-matches for now at least....

is X-match from mom or dad?
I'm very confused on how to read X-matches on family finder. I'm female.
I took the lowest level MtDNA test and my haplogroup is T2b. Can it be assumed that it's most likely that any X-matches in family finder with this haplogroup is a relation through my mother's mother mother, etc?...

How to interpret matches
I've very inept with analyzing Mtdna. I didn't have the full sequence, but the bottom most one 4 years ago. I'm T2b. When I view HVR1/HVR2 matches, there are only 4. Three are in England.
My heritage analysis shows 10% British Isles, but I have no known ancestry there. My ancestry is...

GEDcom Questions
I've built my tree. Now, where should I upload my GEDcom? Where are the best sites for getting definite matches?
Should I make living relatives private before I create the file or do you usually have the capability to do so after you've uploaded elsewhere?
I'm currently...

Apparently, I can't delete this thread. I found the answer. Yes, you must purchase their kit.

MyHeritage
I uploaded my raw data to MyHeritage. I got matches, but there is no ethnicity analysis. Do they only provide that if you buy their kit?
-
No, it's just my test here or anywhere.
I think I will create one GEDcom for my entire tree, and make private those that are still living. I guess I'll name it as all surnames the tree has.Last edited by hollifer; 27 April 2017, 02:17 PM.

I currently have five surnames. They all connect to me. There isn't any one lingering unattached to someone....

yes, NatGeo only provided MtDNA results, but they must have transferred all my DNA (however that works) because FTDNA was able to test my chromosomes fine when I ordered the FF test. All my chromosomes are accounted for when I analyze....
