The point you're missing, Jim, is that no one company has a pool of ALL the data. Some of our matches tested at Ancestry. Some at MyHeritage. Some at FTDNA. Yes, Gedmatch is useful - but they still may not have transferred. If you're trying to break down a "Brick Wall" in your Ancestry, you...

Germanica - it IS to do with quality - quality of response time and effective service offerings. Since they offer the capability to upload Ancestry files and advertise same, it is a breakdown in service when that does not work. And you are absolutely incorrect that the "data itself isn't changing"....Last edited by joe4227; 29 January 2019, 02:35 AM.

Jim, FTDNA is certainly not "Always the bad guy". It's just the guy that we've all paid our money to. Accountability and Service to the (paid) client base is what's at issue - not whether Ancestry or anyone is changing their files. Ancestry recently upgraded the chip they use. That has necessitated...

This has been recurring on and off since at least 2017. Reading the comment above about the data being short in some downloads, I compared the file to an earlier one that uploaded successfully. The new files have MORE data lines, not less. The notes have mentioned Ancestry V3 - the headers still say...Last edited by joe4227; 22 January 2019, 01:50 AM.

I think it's the Sale Banner!
I finally got it working. I found that AdBlockUltimate was blocking the content. It wasn't doing this previously - it seems that perhaps the Sale Banner is causing the AdBlocker to kick in, and that disables the load of the content.

Tested under Firefox Release 52 Extended Support Release (ESR)
Okay, I installed and used the Firefox V52 Extended Support Release (ESR).
Flushed the cache, logged into FTDNA, selected a message from the message list, which then opened the Group Project page.

That would be a security conflict. Since it doesn't work in either Firefox or Safari, it's not a solution. The browser updates are generally driven by security updates, retrograding from the current install is not recommended.
And it's not a Firefox or Safari that aren't working. Both browsers...Last edited by joe4227; 12 May 2018, 09:11 PM.

Yes, the Public Web sites. As I said, I am on a Mac, not a PC. I did attach a screen shot of the problem to my previous message.
Initially, this only happened under Firefox - started around V59, and now 60.
Now it's also happening in Safari.
I need to get into...Last edited by joe4227; 12 May 2018, 09:13 PM.

Cannot see Group Project Pages
Problem first occurred in Firefox a while back. But switched to Safari, and it was okay. Now the same problem in Safari as of 12 May 2018.
Reported to Tech Support.
If I try to access my Group Projects from either the Project List or from the Globe/Messages in the Title Bar, it navigates...

Photos disappearing from tree and profiles
Photos which are already uploaded are disappearing, and new ones aren't showing up. Smells like another rookie coding error in their IT.
I've reported this as a bug...

Ancestry header is corrupt
I independently arrived at the same solution, after comparing several Ancestry Raw Data Downloads going back to March.
Indeed, it appears Ancestry somehow have picked up an old file header when building these text files. I have notified Ancestry...
