Family Tree suggested matches aren't very accurate!
I manage several different FTDNA accounts for family members. And for each I have uploaded a gedcom file of my most up to date family tree. After uploading I usually link the known matches like the other family members who have tested or others we have discovered are real matches. While navigating around...

Mine also have changed quite dramatically and are now not as in line with my known and well sourced family tree.
As per my research my ethnic origin breakdown is:
25% Scandinavian (Swedish)
62.5 British Isles and Benelux region
12.5 Japanese
Old FTDNA My...Last edited by Chrisinhouston; 11 April 2017, 10:43 AM.

The FTDNA My Origins area is one that I never really felt was accurate for me and this was true with the earlier version as well as this newer one. I have a well sourced family tree going back 8-12 generations in all branches it shows that I am roughly:
37.5% British Isles (Mostly British/Irish)...

Interesting results on my 5 grandchildren
Well FTDNA can thank me for the additional business I have sent their way!
I took the FF test last year after Christmas, later in the early summer my wife decided to do it as well as her 90 year old mother. My wife had 2 sons by her first husband and now both of them have done the FF test...

Something similar happened in my DNA results but not to me but another man who tested and discovered that the father he had grown up with was not really his biological one. That man was my uncle who remained a bachelor all his life and we now believe he probably didn't know he had fathered a son. ...

Family Tree module could really use improvements
I think I might be preaching to the choir here but I have all but given up with the FTDNA Family Tree section or module on my Dashboard or homepage. I uploaded my family tree but navigating around or linking matches is slow as molasses and difficult to do. I have uploaded my tree to big websites like...

Why do matches from one part of the family show up and others never do?
I have a very good working knowledge of my ancestry and an extensive family tree; I a have been working at it for almost 20 years. I have done the FF test here at FTDNA as well as Y67 mostly to verify what I know but also to look for the unknown. I have discovered a few first and second cousins, mostly...

Interesting results on my granddaughter
My daughter is a single mom, the father of her child was born in Mexico City and we don't know a whole lot about his ancestry, sadly he chose not to stay apart of our family.
So we tested my little granddaughter and the results were interesting. I know that the My Origins is not the...

Maternal Relationship predictions are way off
I haven't been to my FF Matches page in awhile and today when I visited I noticed a little white female figure on a small red square just below several of the names for my matches. And I noticed in the tabs above it now says I have 30 Maternal Matches, I assume these little markers by the name indicate...

How to handle kits you purchase for family members?
I can't seem to find a clear answer for my situation. I am an existing FTDNA customer and wanted to take advantage of the big summer sale for some family members who are also now interested in the basic Family Finder test kit.
When I was ready to purchase I added each FF kit, filled...

Kind of a newbie question about the Y37 test kit
I did the basic FF test about 6 months ago and last week felt I could afford and wanted to to do the Y37 test so I ordered it. Will I get a new test kit in the mail to complete or will they just use the same kit I did for the FF test and retest those first results?
Asking because I have...

Interesting results. It seems like DNA.LAND has more breakdown of regions and subgroups. My map for FTDNA doen't really cover the Benelux region where I have a lot of ancestry but DNA.LAND does and even goes a bit into Sweden where I also have a lot of ancestry. But I question them listing my Asian...
