Though some countries can be considered "poorer", though that is but subjective to American mentality, more the lack of DNA testing comes down to the simple fact the average person doesn't care in that region. Why should they?
They are oftentimes told they have lived in the...

If it hasn't been mentioned, the Q haplogroup actually originated in Asia. 17,000 years give or take apparently. A number of Europeans happen to have the epicanthic fold trait which is typically Asiatic origins [hence why a large number of Finns have it]. I have vague epicanthic folds due to my mother's...Last edited by James78; 14 November 2015, 05:43 AM.

I am in the proper haplogroup, as mentioned my DNA is older. Looking at the relation to said so called "relative" they have more Y related SNPs [z, cts, etc.] which I have read makes them newer or more "modern" than me. There's at least 30 SNPs they have which I don't, despite the...Last edited by James78; 14 November 2015, 05:16 AM.

Can someone explain how the Big Y works
Well got the results and can't say I am surprised. I thought it was a waste of money to begin with, but someone else I am supposedly related to on another site coaxed me into getting it.
Why is it a waste of money? Well the person I am supposedly related to doesn't even show up, nor do...Last edited by James78; 13 November 2015, 09:49 AM.

Correction: So old my DYS is older[a smaller number] than a large number of the DYS found in the "Irish" subtypes and thus accounts for few matches amongst the wide spread younger [/bigger] DYS numbers...

Well you obviously don't.
This is the Atlantic reference used in most of the gedmatch populations.

The higher concentrations are: UK, Germany, France, Spain and their neighbors. NOT simply...Last edited by James78; 21 September 2015, 04:38 AM.

Ah you're right, serves me for looking at it in the middle of the night. Though they do say on the very rare occasion children may get some of the parental mtDNA....Last edited by James78; 21 September 2015, 04:17 AM.

HVR1 matches by FTNDA's mtDNA - Ancestral Origins test - a joke or what?
I haven't paid much attention to FTDNA because with my father's having limited Y SNP matches and limited HVR1/HVR2 matches finding close relatives seems limited.
However, I was bored and decided to use mtDNA - Ancestral Origins test.
This is only HVR1 matches

Yes according to him or her civilization popped into existence outside of the Poison Glen.
For someone [myself] whose family history [by blood, not mere surname connection or DNA connection but actual pedigree - my surname itself is of Gaelic origin & was founded on an aspect of...

According to you civilization popped into existence outside of the Poison Glen.
The lack of Asiatic DNA in the Samara sample is easily explained by what is called population drift & population isolation. If, and given that the Samara populated the Volga area and were known to be...

Maybe I didn't explain it properly. Where or how can one identify the mtDNA and the resulting SNPs if at all....

Doesn't mean anything seeing as the Atlantic covers the entire celto-germanic region. I am speaking specifically of IRISH connection as per gedmatch in the single population.
However:
# Population Percent
1 North_Sea 38.62
2 Atlantic 39.45
3 West_Med...

I probably do. I am waiting for confirmation - hence why I didn't include it - of a Mary born in the 1300s. I was able to track whom I believe to be her descendent and am waiting to see if the results are close enough to claim relation.
From a paternal material bloodline I can go all...Last edited by James78; 2 August 2015, 07:16 AM.

Are there any GOOD mtDNA tests? Detailed ones.
I am wondering if there's any good detailed mtDNA tests out there?
The reason why I ask is my family is old, far older than most and comes from old higher class society [nobility / aristocratic and what were land owners back in a time when a vast majority of the population were serfs......
