Law Enforcement requesting DNA Results
Was reading that Ancestry and 23 and Me had been requested by law enforcement for DNA results of someone who was wanted for rape. I am getting a little concerned as to the level of protection we have regarding our DNA results. Any thoughts????

My sister and I have a different mother so we are assuming this A- came from our father's side. Our brother and other sister are not A-. It is interesting to research this A- as it is not common and their are some really bizarre stories out there. They do see a prevalence in the Basque ancestors...

Blood type and DNA
Perhaps a very bizarre question, but have there been any studies on DNA results and blood types? My sister and I are A- and have been doing some research on this blood type and it is really bizarre.

Native American
Thanks so much for the information. It is not the NA that I am so interested in because if it does exist it would be very small. I am J2a1a1a2 which seems to be very broad - so broad that I am having trouble pulling out the important results. I guess...

My ancestors origins
I am interested in the origins of MY ancestors, not necessarily the origins of matches. Which report shows me that? My Family Finder results suggest some origins that match results from mtDNA matches but I can't seem to zoom in on some concrete answers....

Significance of the number of markers tested.
Been educating myself but still don't get the significance of the number of markers tested I just read in one of the comments that 12 marker matches would indicate a distant relative of 10,000 years. And the perception I got was that the larger number of marker matches would indicate closer matches...

Y-DNA Error frequency????
Are there any statistics that show the percentage of tests that are in error? Just read a comment that said their test was mixed up with another person. What would indicate that an error has been made?

Why then would you order the tests?
If 12 or 25 markers cannot be taken seriously then why bother?...

Hi Infantry
Your questions are not dumb - we have all been there. When starting out on a family history journey (2004) I began with Ancestry.com. Yes, this does cost money but it has helped me with research - can't afford to go cross country. Just remember there are...
