Both my mother and a second cousin on my mother's side have tested that I know of. On my father's side, a half-brother and 1st cousin have tested. I see 0 maternal and 0 paternal matches. They're all listed on my posted tree and the relationships confirmed.

I never got a gedcom from Family Tree Maker to upload - trying occasionally over a period of several years. I finally succeeded when I created a gedcom directly from ancestry.com and uploaded that.

Curious ... I requested two days before you and still don't have a BAM file ...

It's a bit longer than a few weeks for a BAM file, I fear. I'm now approaching 7 weeks of waiting, although some people who requested their BAM file on the same day as I requested mine appear to have gotten theirs 3-4 weeks ago.

I'm guessing that they've come to another halt in producing BAM files. Maybe they ran out of disk space? There's no lab / testing requirement, so the hold up needs to be something else.

I've now finished my sixth week waiting and will start on week 7 tomorrow.

Maybe it's a typo on entering your results. Ask ftdna to verify.

Matches, whether FF, Y, or Mt, are made based on genetic similarity. Surname projects, in general, are not limited to people who have that surname. So in your first example, Jones will discover that he matches a lot of Smiths but not Jones. He should then be accepted into the Smith surname project...

According to my origins my mother has 45% Western and Central European, 37% Scandinavian, and 17% British Isles. I have 47% Western and Central European, 19% Scandinavian, and 33% British Isles. Yet my sister lists as 95% Western and Central European and 5% Finnish and Northern Siberian.
