A very late update. The man in the above post was convinced I was his daughter but agreed to test. It confirmed that he is my father. I met him last June and last week we met in Florida where his brother lives and met a bunch of extended family.

This past week I believe I have found my birth father. I had been convinced that several third cousin matches were paternal cousins but had never been able to narrow things down enough.

I do understand it. I was adopted in 1960, a very different time for birth mothers. I am not expecting a relationship.

Update

In August I mailed my birth mother a letter. She signed for it and my half sister messaged me on Facebook and told me to but out.

I have since gotten a second cousin match at Ancestry that lines up everything too.

In December I met my 1st cousin once...

Someone helping me found a more recent address of my possible birth mother. I sent her a letter that she signed for on 08/30/16.

Anxiously awaiting contact of some sort.

Mailed letters to my possible aunt and uncle a week ago, no response yet. Mailing letters to possible half sisters today.

A third cousin match coupled with the ages on the divorce decree which matched the non-id info I got over the phone from Virginia DSS.

My listed father 38 and my mother as 20. I found the divorce decree based on that information.

I am referring to the groups that are not in the actual forums. Specifically, Global Adoptee Genealogy Project (GAGP). None of the my posts there show up on my user cp. The format is different.

Update

One of John Harrison Stewart's son agreed to a DNA test. We are not related. This is confirmation since reason given for the divorce was that Doris Jean was pregnant by another man.

I was able to make contact with one of her daughters. She started out being helpful...

Are there any plans for this? It is very time consuming to scroll through posts in order to update a conversation.
