It's happening the opposite way, as well. I have two aunts who are half sisters showing Iberian. Between their Iberian and SE European, they are coming in with values around 25% each. Amazing as they have never had results remotely similar here or elsewhere nor do we have ancestry from Southern ...

Iowa DNA Project May 2015
If anyone is interested in how our little project is developing, or would like to join, the current quarterly report is out: https://iowadnaproject.wordpress.com...rterly-report/

There are groups that focus on autosomal DNA out there. I admin one but it is listed under Dual Geographic Projects because there really isn't a better category for us.
I agree that all projects are not created equally and neither are admins. My project is small (just over 200 members)...

Advanced Matching Tool Glitching
My project members are reporting that when they try to look for matches within the project they are incorrectly getting pages and pages of matches. The Omni Express report is still working correctly, though, and producing matches as expected.

I match Loschbour at 6.9/700 snps. One of my lines is also from Trassem Saarburg back to the 1500's, about a half an hour from where the skeleton was found.
Felix has started an Ancient DNA project at FTDNA, as people getting matches to the archaics he uploaded here.

MMadi, looks like the case is closed. Using "250 SNP's and 1.0 cM minimum segment" "everyone in the list has a connection to MMaddi. Stuff like that does not just happen by chance."
Nevermind phasing, nevermind using 1cM segments, nevermind the concept of IBS, nevermind...

You took the keystrokes right out of my fingers.
Funnily enough, I am more closely related to an 8000 year old skeleton (6.9 cm/700 snps) from Luxembourg than I am to this North Carolina 'situation'. I am of course supposedly another descendent of an escapee who made its way to Europe...Last edited by suttonwho; 3 May 2015, 06:13 AM.

The way I approach my tree is fluid and is always looked at as new data and matches appear. My paper genealogy and my DNA matches point to the same conclusions. I haven't seen anything yet presented to cause the need for a major rethink of my tree. We have 4 generations of both side of the family...

I do have a tree that is available to matches. That information isn't going to be relevant to your project as they are not colonial and were not in the US prior to 1800.
You have to have a theory that fits the data, not make the data fit the theory....

Hi Georgian. I agree with Haggis, I don't believe in discussing this privately. You've made a public claim and have been replied to publicly. My family kits that I admin are available and both my grandmother's kit numbers are visible here under Duffy and Kern:

Georgian, we know MMaddi's ancestors were born in Italy and the earliest any of them arrived in the U.S. was in 1889.
MDLP k23b has MMaddi's Native American at 0.25% and his sub-Saharan at 0.14%. Eurogenes K13 has MMaddi at 0.28% American Indian, 0.75% Sub-Saharan, and 0.70 NE African....

Georgian, as you yourself have said, admixture programs are notoriously unreliable at small percentages. Do you truly consider it more plausible that one of MMaddi's ancestors was a refugee from a slave ring in the Carolinas that ended up in Italy? I find it more likely the Am Indian or Sub Saharan...

I match an 8000 year old skeleton Loschbour from Luxembourg more closely than most of these segments. 6.9 cm/1029 snps.
I see you also match Loschbour at 6.8cm/496 snps.

MaineDNA, I have two 2-4th cousin matches that I couldn't figure out how I was related to. I discovered how they were related to each other, though and their common ancestors were from Sullivan Co., TN.
After I had 3 generations tested on my side, I saw that the shared segments hardly...
