Did you save the file or try to open it? The error sounds like a message you would get from a spread sheet program that could not open a file. If so then save the file to disk, maybe your desktop to make it easy to find, then try to open it or import it from your spread sheet...

If male descendents are available then Y-DNA tests would provide more proof. Have you searched for more records as DNA testing works best when complemented with documentation.

You did not id which test or tests you were asking about. If you have your raw data it may be possible to do limited comparisons,providing you can wade through the difference in terminology. If the subject of the DNA testing is available then retesting is the best option.

For me DNA testing is like a compass it indicates a direction but you still need a map ( family tree ) and landmarks (documation/facts) to get to your goal. The FF test will fill in more landmarks than other tests. A positive result on any test will not tell you how you are related...

why Family Finder

One of the two has taken the FF test already. Lowest combined cost.

You get more info from a FF test by orders of magnitude.
A negative Y or mt test has little value vs a negative FF test.

This is a step in the right direction, was able to upload my tree and assign one of my matches to the correct person. It is very hard to do and I will wait for improvements to try the next one. Drop and drag is too clumsy for any tree of size. The lag time from moving the mouse...

I now believe that both family tree and dna data are important. Another site has more tree data and as a result I'm very happy...

If any web site needs a map it is FTDNA

I was able to do a search in my ydna results with the widest settings and sort by name to find what I needed.

I was posting because a site map should be standard, just like books have a table of context....
