On MYFTDNA pages of Big Y participants, there is a Big Y Survey box. They want to use Big Y data and send it to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

I declined.

On the contrary the Genographic project travels the world collecting DNA samples. More then just those who order the Geno test. They probably have as much data to contribute as ftdna with the Big Y....
