Exactly. I use GenomeMate to track matches, so I'm downloading both csv files somewhat regularly for my kits. I know a lot of people use DNAGedcom for this, but I started out downloading direct from FTDNA, and DNAGedcom creates duplicates, which I don't have time to merge for the number of kits I deal...

Thanks! I had always gone to the Chromosome Browser by selecting five people, not directly there. I guess it's time to change my procedure.

We always had matches who were adoptees, but it's only recently that close-in adopted relatives have begun to show up. At least two first cousins had children unknown to the extended family (one of the kids did know who his father was and the immediate family knew); some second cousins also gave up...

Something no one has mentioned, and which I don't recall being the case when the new chromosome browser first came out, is that now I see no way of downloading a csv file of all the matches. The download on the page now only downloads data for the several matches one has been comparing. Where has the...

Yes, trees are often essential (with locations) whereas surname lists can be misleading. I have Scottish Andersons (a real surname) and probably also Norwegian Andersons (a patronymic). I want to see trees with geographic locations.
Incidentally, what has become of the gedcom upload feature?...

re the original topic
I like the original poster's solution ("What I did was to create a new sub-group and named it with the particular SNPs as follows
sub-group 4
CTS4528+ DF100+ Assumed (based on parent STRs(12) matching)").
On MtDNA, I've tested...

Email re Family Finder results for member
I administer a small project intended for known relatives, but open to people who think they might be related (surname in common or whatnot). My known relatives and I get Family Finder matches rather slowly, and I've always been a little sorry that we don't get emails when those come in the way we get...

I can see the trees again, but would like to know what causes so many individuals to show as having unknown data for birth and death. The gedcoms I've uploaded for self and family include years and locations that don't show (but some does), and trees for matches generally have the same problem of strangely...

Marking Connection information
I'm curious how people are using the Connection information (where you can mark the ancestor).
I've been doing this very conservatively--only marking known most recent common ancestors. However, for many matches I do know which grandparent...

Probably the ideal would be for FTDNA to use some sort of cutoff for its main match display (thus limiting false positives, etc) BUT to provide Gedmatch-like options so that we can check for smaller matches using kit numbers, etc.
There have been plenty of times when Gedmatch has revealed...
