I had my Full Mitochondrial Sequence done here with FTDNA. I had my mother's autosomal test (like Family Finder) done at 23andMe. Her haplogroup was included in that autosomal test. I'm surprised that the autosomal test here at FTDNA doesn't give that haplogroup info? That's what I read a couple posts...

Results from 23andMe
I received my mother's results from 23andMe just a couple of days ago. We must have gotten in under the wire of the FDA's shut down of the health reporting. My mother received the health report as well as the autosomal report. We found the health report to be very accurate considering the family health...

I"ve been trying to find out more about the X haplogroup online. There isn't much on this haplogroup written. I find it's very interesting that it's not confined to a specific area, that it's located in small percentages in different places. It isn't in large percentages in North America. Since...

Uh Oh! Marietta, PLEASE don't fall into the false hope that Ancestry.com trees are correct.I run screaming from their world trees! People take whatever they see as being correct and it's copied and copied time after time by LAZY people without them even doing the research THEMSELVES to see if...

I don't know how it is in your country but here in the U.S. some states didn't start recording birth and death dates till the mid 1800s. If you are looking for information you will have to see if you have some historical societies in the area you are looking into, who may sell books on pioneering families...

Local News Anchor has DNA test through Ancestry
This aired on local TV last night. It's an interesting story, he also hired a genealogist through Ancestry.com it seems. After the story he said, through the DNA test he found some surprising things about his ancestry in England and SCANDINAVIA. Wonder if he was in the first batch of testing when it...

Bob H- My mother's side (both her mother's and her father's) are mostly from Burlington and Atlantic Counties, some by way of New England. In some instances we've been in that area since the 1600's. I'm the first one in my direct maternal line since 1774 to move from the area. My daughter is the first...

Well, it's clear to me that there are very strong opinions here. Also, some think that 23andMe have lower accuracy percentages? I've only considered FTDNA AND 23andMe for the autosomal test. I made my choice last night. I'm trying 23andMe for this test, I ordered the kit. I've tested at Nat'l Geographic...

Yes, I did read Roberta Estes "designer babies" article. I subscribe to her articles and enjoy them, although I'm still not really up with some of the "scientific jargon".
Thanks for all the input, I'm leaning toward 23andMe only because Mom and I want to know the countries...

Thank for both your reponse, Taltos. It was very informative since it seems you've tested in both places.

Has anyone read the article by Roberta Estes? Especially this one.

So if I decide to get the test done by 23andMe it will be a $69 charge to move it to FTDNA. I'd like to hear from more people...

I'm would not even consider testing with Ancestry, at this time anyway from what I've read about it. Anybody know if FTDNA will get more defined ethnicity reports?
