When you look at a match list from any of FTDNA's tests, there is a small icon beside the match indicating the other tests that person has taken.
So someone on your mtDNA match list who has also taken the FF test will have a little FF icon beside their name. This doesn't necessarily...

Just as I suspected!
Hopefully he was able to assign you to a subclade and recommend some further testing options.

Yes, that's correct; however, what I recommended is the protocol the G project admins generally suggest in cases like this.
The admins examine the results of each person who joins the Uncategorized & Root project, then enroll in them in the appropriate sub-clade project and removed...

The best bet is to join the G Uncategorized & Root project. The admins will take a look at the results and enroll the kit in the appropriate G subclade project.

Yes, R-M198 (R1a1a) is a large and well tested haplogroup. My guess would be that if there is not some technical explanation (wasn't there an issue at some point that certain privacy settings were preventing people from viewing their own matches?), then you have some unusual multi-step mutations in...

I would highly recommend joining the appropriate project for your predicted haplogroup and asking the project admins for their advice on further testing....

It is continuous. When new people take the FF test, if there is a match to you, they will be added to your match list.

So you ordered an mtDNA upgrade to your father's kit instead of a Family Finder test for your mother, and it's FTDNA's fault?

I wouldn't try to make sense of FTDNA's Big Y matching system. You'll drive yourself mad.
I'd look at any clusters in which your project admins have placed you, and if you want to examine Big Y matches yourself, you can submit your sample to YFull and see what's available there.

You could always contact your project admin and ask if it might benefit the project to use group funds for the test in question.
