0 matches at Y-25 for R-M417

I have three useless matches at Y-12. I upgraded to Y-25 and don't have any matches. Is there any point in upgrading to Y-37? My halogroup is R-M417. I have Russian ancestry and this is probably the problem.

It would help if I could filter my matches by countries where my matches live. I just noticed my first match living in Poland. My distant Finish matches are useless.

I hope Family Tree DNA could consider adding a filter by country of residence. This will probably involve a privacy disclosure...

It turns out my three matches are 1 step. I'll see how good the sale will be for Father's Day weekend. Maybe I'll upgrade to Y-25 or Y-37. I wish I could get a distant cousin to do a YDNA test. He, his cousins and father are the only one who can do the test for my paternal grandmother's line. Then one...

Thanks for your responses. I am hoping the test of my mother's brother could open some doors. I wish I could convince my brother to take a test. I'll see how far I'll go with testing.

Has anyone here tested distant cousins? I have cousins who are grandchildren of my grandparents' siblings. Would testing them for Family Finder be a waste of money? I am not having any luck with matches anywhere.
