Thanks so much Maddi! My cousin actually confirmed he is R1b1b2a1a
Can I use that extra a1a to narrow down my haplotree anymore than just R1b1a2? I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the reply. So basically, one of the tests is not really accurate? Since the Haplogroup is a defined classification of people, and the two haplogroups vary, I'm assuming that one of them is more correct of a match than the other?
Lastly, I assume SNP's means that if he has...

Why doesn't my haplogroup match my cousin's?
My "predicted" haplogroup based on my 67-marker comprehensive genome test is R1b1a2. My paternal 1st cousin just had testing done at 23andme.com and was told he is R1b1b2. Shouldn't our haplogroups be the same? Is one of our testing results not accurate, or maybe I should have the deep clade...

Thanks for the SMGF tip, I'll do a search this weekend. Yes, I have one fleming with a genetic distance of 5 on 67 markers (I am user PMCHU). I realize this distance is probably around 400 years or so, but every other site I do a search on, including ftdna and ancestry, I usually have lots of flemings....

Sorry, I don't know how I missed this reply. I had the comprehensive genome test done on my father at FTDNA - 67 markers. I have uploaded the results to gedmatch.com and ysearch and ancestry. I haven't uploaded to SMGF because I was under the impression you had to purchase one of their kits to participate....

FF Matches: YNDA -v- HVR
I've noticed recently that under some of my matches, I will see "Y-DNA67" or "Y-DNA67 HVR2" etc. I had the comprehensive genome test on my father. If I see YDNA, does that mean it is a confirmed match to my father's paternal ancestry, and HVR2 is confirmed to be from his maternal...

Thanks for the advice. I'm not really interested in deep ancestry as much as the last 400 years, so I guess I will wait. I appreciate the help.

What will the Deep Clade test tell me?
I have not been very lucky with FTDNA so far. I ordered the Full Comprehensive Genome test and found two 6th cousin matches with Family Finder. About 90% of the rest of my FF results don't upload a gedcom or don't respond to emails, so I can't really progress. I don't understand why people get tested...

MRCA within 7 gens with a different surname?
My surname is Robinson. I am R1b1a2. There are zero Robinsons in my YNDA matches, and a couple Robertsons. Most of my YDNA matches have different names, but there is one surname that comes up a lot - Fleming/Flemming. So I conclude that there is possibly a NPE somewhere, or a name change. I can trace...

So confused about finding FF matches
I've been a member for almost a year now. I have the complete genome test run on my father, so I have YDNA and mtdna matches. I have read all of the FAQs (to my knowledge), and read a book on DNA testing, but still don't understand really what I should be doing to determine FF connections. I have...

What exactly can I do with the deep subclade test?
I am R1B1a2. I am having a lot of difficulty finding a single paternal match. Since R1b1 is such a common haplogroup, if I get the deep clade test, and it tells me I am R1B1a2a2a2a2a2 or something like that, can I then use that to narrow my results from my surname project? That is, if I see another...

Message from FTDNA that I had a known relationship, but how do I view it?
When I logged into FTDNA today I had a new system message stating "You have a new Known Relationship request." However all I could do was mark the message as read. Where do I actually go to see the specific relationship request? When I click on the menu for "Known Relationships"...

I got a response from Jennifer Valentine:
------
Thank you for your email. We are still waiting on a single panel out of the 6 that are run for your Y-DNA results. Please note that your mtDNA and Family Finder tests are complete. You can go ahead and order the Deep Clade test if...

Searching uploaded pedigrees
I have a match with someone, and when searching their pedigree, there are hundreds of names. Is there a way for me to easily download their gedcom from that pedigree? I know I can always email them and ask for it, but I was just wondering if there was a better way to do it since many times I don't...
