    Is "Ancestral Surnames" broken?
    Carpathian
Originally when I started here, years ago, I entered all my known ancestral surnames into my profile. Today I wanted to make a simple change in the spelling of one of my ancestral surnames. I went to the 'settings' tab to do it. The box that is used to record my surnames is now completely blank, although...

    Did Great-Grandmother have an affair?
    500885
Family legend has it that my paternal great-grandmother, Helen Gray Cooper, left her second husband, Sylvester Barnhart, with my grandfather, Eldred Barnhart, in tow and went to California. This action was said to have been prompted by Sylvester Barnhart, my paternal great-grandfather, holding my grandfather...

Should I do the M343 SNP test?
    BruceC
Here's a beginner question. On Family Tree DNA (I did the mtDNA, Y-111, & Family Finder tests) they say my Y Haplogroup is M-R269, which is expected as my heritage is Scots. On my FTDNA home page is an offer to "Get 154 SNPs related to M343". How would that help me?

    If I understand...

    Current FF batch #?
    angelah100
What FF batch numbers have been recently completed? Which batches are 'in progress' with associated start dates? It would be nice to see some kind of progress log. I have a relative in batch 671. According to all the forums, FF is running very behind. Relative is 96 and it would be nice to give her...

    Help finding my biological father
    Eddison
I have found a DNA match to a second male cousin. This narrows my search to 7 siblings. Then for various reasons - I have narrowed it down to 3 siblings. I have then found 5 separate DNA matches of second cousin and 3rd cousins once removed on my potential grandmas side. Does this mean their son is...

    Y-DNA Haplotree
    Svein Davidsen
I find the new Y-DNA tree very useful and well presented, but I have two questions:
    1. I cannot see or find a version identifier. I'm sure FTDNA intend to update the tree, but without a version identifier we will not be aware of the changes.
    2. I have a "cousin" in the N-FGC14542...

What to test next, or should I pursue further testing
    309355
Recently received Y-DNA between two males with similar surnames. Same haplogroup and matched 23 of 25 markers, but only 32 of 37 markers. (all markers are the more rapidly changing markers) I have tested 67 markers for tester one. Would it tell me anything further if I tested additional markers OR should...

DNA Hlogroups from Family Finder matches

    Hi,
just to inform you I'm managing this collaborative genetic genealogy project:

The basic idea behind this project is to share ONLY the YDNA haplogroups of your Family Finder matches.
No matters if you are male or female. Just YDNA haplogroups of the matches...
