  • Results seem to vary a lot with Ftdna

Below were my results to ancestrydna, MyHeritage, Dna.land, Gedmatch and Ftdna. A little confused to Ftdna strong ties to East Europe and doesn’t pick up my Scandinavian while all other sites do.

    Ancestrydna
    Europe West 27%
    Range: 0%—58%
    Europe South 20%
    Range: 10%—30%
    Scandinavia 17%
    Range: 0%—35%
    Finland/Northwest Russia 13%
    Range: 5%—21%
    Ireland/Scotland/Wales 9%
    Range: 0%—19%
    Great Britain 8%
    Range: 0%—27%
    Low Confidence Regions
    Europe East 4%
    Range: 0%—12%
    Iberian Peninsula 2%
    Range: 0%—7%

    DNA.LAND
    Northwest European 56%
    South/Central European 11%
    Balkan 5.5%
    Southwestern European 10%
    Sardinian 5.2%
    Finnish 11%
    North Slavic 1.8%

    MyHeritage
    North and West European
    44.2%
    English
    23.1%
    South Europe
    21.2%
    Italian
    13.5%
    Iberian
    7.7%
    East Europe
    11.5%

    FamilyTreeDNA
    British Isles 40%
    East Europe 50%
    Southeast Europe 8%
    Finland < 2%
    South Central Asia <1%

I’m confused about the drastic difference with Eastern European with familytreedna.

GEDMATCH account is A536614 if anyone wants to play around with it so I can get some conclusion.

I wouldn't worry too much about the huge % of Eastern Europe given to you at Ftdna as it is fairly widely published by other ftdna customers across the net that the Eastern Europe cluster is probably THE most poorly designated one of all the European clusters. It seems to be giving too much of it to Central and Western Europeans to allow North East Europeans to get 100% readings.
A major rejig by the boffins at FTDNA is badly needed on this one.
