I am sicilian - My pop finder results were pretty out there...
97.6% Middle Eastern (Jewish) and the rest African
Ancestry has me at 74% Italy Greece 24% West Asia (middle East 14%, Caucasus 10%) 1% African which makes sense given my background.
Gedmatch follows along the same lines. If I play around with different tests there, I can get 5.73% Ashkenazi.
I can document my family through baptismal records in Sicily to the 1600's and Malta even further back. There are 2 names that show up in my tree in Malta in the 1630's that at one time belonged to those of Jewish ancestry - Borg and Micallef. My family arrived in America in the 1900's. I didn't even speak English until I went to kindergarten. Other than those early Maltese surnames, my family surnames have been Italian.

Any other Sicilians get pegged with this high a Middle Eastern Jewish from pop finder ? I could see 25% due to my middle eastern heritage, the 97.6% really threw me.
Thanks,
Al
