I just got my daughters results back and was kinda surprised at her results. I understand she get 50% from me and another 50% from her mother. Below are my results ad well as her's. I am puzzled why she only inherited 5 of my ethnic groups?

Mind: (Europe) Basque, Finnish, French, Orcadian, Russian, Sardinian, Spanish, Tuscan 88.44% ±2.56%
Middle East: Mozabite, Bedouin 11.56% ±2.56%

Her's: (Europe) Finnish, French, Russian, Spanish, Tuscan 100.00% ±0.01%

Don't be alarmed, this pretty much happens to us all.

First (as I have recently received my results as well) the population finder geographies are not to be taken literally. You can only confirm them by tracing your ancestry. What we are all reading on our results for Population Finder might just be dna footprints from a long time ago as opposed to more recently.

Second, autosomal dna recombines at very fast rates and can be attributed to all of your ancestors, and none will be measured in equal shares.

Look for a Population Finder update from FTDNA that will give us a truer representation of our dna structures in the near future.

    For example:

My mother's father is African American (with one European direct ancestor two generations back), so we can assume that he is 90% of African ethnicity.

Mom returned a 40% western African result, and I returned a 13% result. Not very equal distribution, right? So your genetic make up is a conglomeration of all of your ancestors and not equally distributed.

Don't worry about the numbers. Your daughter gets 50% of her DNA from each parent, but she doesn't get 50% of a 100% of each parent's DNA. It's sort of a card shuffle as to which 50% of a parent's DNA a child will get.

So siblings can have different Populations showing up even though they are full siblings.

        Thanks for the information.
