I'm in disagreement with FTDNA results that show my ancestry to be 68 percent western and central European, 21 percent UK, 9 percent Scandinavian and less than 2 percent eastern European or "background". My research indicates I'm more likely 68 percent UK. However, this makes me wonder how FTDNA determines if someone is of UK origin? As far as I know, the Celts were the first settlers of the British Isles (and they supposedly came from western Europe), followed by the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans. Are my results reflecting these groups separate from being British, Scottish or Welsh?
