  • FF plus HVR1 and HVR2, which company?

Going to have a cousin tested. I've tested at 3 companies and prefer FtDNA. What I need to learn from this cousin (due to an adopted grandmother) is her Haplogroup as well as autosomal connections.

23andme includes haplogroup in the cost of their autosomal test and FtDNA charges and additional 89.00 to get this info.

Money is a concern, what would you do?

23 and Me does NOT include the complete haplogroup, only partial.

I.e., I tested at 23 and they gave me U3a.

I then tested mtDna full sequence at FTDNA and they gave me the COMPLETE haplogroup: U3a1b

HVR1 and HVR2 are only the partial Haplogroup, and a waste of your money, considering cost/benefit.

If you want mtDna testing, you will want to do the Full Sequence at FTDNA.

No I do not need or want that much info. I would rather test more relatives with the money I have budgeted for research than get a full MtDNA test done.
