  • Degree of Kinship

I just had a project member get FF results posted today. She has matches listed as half siblings which she didn't expect.

Where can I look to see the ranges for the kinship of matches: siblings, half-siblings, double 1st cousins and 1st cousins.

I'm sure Matt has posted this somewhere but with the re-arrangement I don't know where to look for it.

    Thanks.

I had a first cousin at 1150 cM listed as a possible half sibling, niece or aunt, and another first cousin at 1100 cM.

Average first cousin is going to be 750 plus or minus a couple hundred.

This is a good general guideline, but allow the percentages can vary in cases where more or less than 50% was passed down and if intermarrying happened in your line.
