New Matches Coming In

I just got one new match in my family finder and a kit I manage that has colonial ancestry just got 5 new matches tonight ! So, log in and check your kits !

I was part of Batch 444 and I have 9 pages so far! I am excited I am seeing a lot of family names from my paternal side and some possible hits on the maternal, woot!!!

The Finnish question answered

My father's test results finally came back too. None of my own Finnish FamilyFinder cousins appear on his list. (I am accumulating quite a bunch of them!) I have very little doubt now that these Finnish cousins (most Finnish citizens and Finnish speakers) come from my mother's side. More people of French-Canadian ancestry (besides my own FF French-Canadian cousins) have been added to my father's cousins list too, so that was reassuring.

I got one last night too

I had 18 matches (two 3-5th cousin, the rest 4th-5th through remote) until 19 Dec 2011, then got another distant on 20 Dec... Then, last night (thanks to this thread I checked again) I received another match. It is another distant one (Shared cM 31.41 Longest Block 8.12 ), but it is there nonetheless.

I got 5 new matches overnight. One of my sisters also got 5 matches and the other got 4 matches.

They are coming in slowly, but any new match is appreciated.

Now I have to compare the matches, whoopee.

Okay the results make no sense; My sisters are full sisters to each other. They are both half-sister to me.

I got 5 new matches, Sister S got 5 new matches, Sister R got 4 new matches.

Of the 14 total matches;
Sister S and I match on 1
Sister R and I match on 1
Sister S and Sister R match on 1
All three of us match on none

Sometimes dna makes no sense at all.

This is where now being able to order matches based on match date comes into it's own. 2 new matches for me today (5th to remote) and nothing for my wife.

I tested at 23 and Me a few months ago and when the results came in I had 993 matches since than I have not gotten one new match there. At FTDNA I seemed to get a match every week up to a month ago where I had a dry spell but yesterday I got 11 new matches another reason why I glad I tested at FTDNA.

23andme has about 1000 match limit which does mysteriously fluctuates I think based on your % of DNA for your lowest. So I'm sure you have gotten more matches at 23andme, you just also lost your lowest % of DNA matches as new ones came in.

I also got some new matches with FF. Two 3rd-Distant who at first glace are probably distant. I'm up to 41 FF matches and 516 23andme matches.

23 And Me it stops at 1500 matches, but you can find more by reverse sorting emails, cm sizes etc

Three new matches for me. I'm now up to 88. I had gone since 12/20/11 with no new matches.

I see people keep getting new matches, but I still have the same boring 5 matches that seem to have been there for ages. One of them is listed as a third cousin, that's the only one I sent an email to, but never received an answer. What's worse is that none of my matches have any ancestral surnames or places of origin listed. Three are obviously Spanish/Hispanic, while the other two appear to be Anglo-American/Germanic or Irish. I can't really tell, except the Irish one. Anyway, I was hoping to see something new.

I'm waiting for FTDNA to start the 23andme transfer option so my father will finally have a match; so far, he doesn't have a single mtDNA or FF match of any kind.

I am in a similar boat as you. No new matches for me yet in 2012 either. I have 54 total, and like you, only one 3rd cousin. Mine responded though, but we have yet to be able to connect the dots. Guess we have to keep waiting....

Yes, I guess we'll have to wait for a significant increase in the number of FF orders, before seeing more matches. I wish people would at least list their family surnames and countries of origin.
