New Matches Coming In

10 new matches on 12/20/13. That brings me past 3000 in total. (I am mainly Ashkenazi Jewish; the rest Sephardic.)

And on 8/7/14, I passed 4000 matches.

One new match 3-5th cousin for my dad. He is an 'in common' match with a group that appears to share a British Isles ancestor.

Four new matches for me (including the one in common with my dad). I also have a Scottish Stewart, one who matches people currently living in Scandinavia, and the last looks like a Colonial match.

My son has 3 new matches (including the one that my dad and I have in common). 2 are related and carry the same surname. They look like they have a British Island ancestor in common that has descendents in the US and Canada.

Only my nephew got 2 matches on the 19th. Me & my son got zip...

New matches posted on 23rd, but dated 21st. So it takes two days to run the matching program.

Up popped one for my son dated the 19th. It wasn't there on the 21st. He also got 2 dated the 21st. My nephew got 2 on the 21st, one a 2nd to 4th cousin match. I again got nothing.

Cluster matches continue

The last few times my mother continues gets clusters of Finns, Swedes and New England and southern U.S. colonials.
My father continues to get clusters of French Canadian/Acadian and Norwegian descendants. I share many of my parents' matches. This last time I got one match, not noted on either of my parents' lists, but his and my mutual matches are also matches to both of my parents.

This time I got a match dated the 25th. Only one, but it is a 2nd-4th. No surnames,no gedcom. Nothing for the son & nephew this time.

FTDNA finishes their new interactive Gedcom and enables uploads. No uploads have been allowed for over three weeks now.

My mother got 2 new matches today. 5th to remote. No surnames. No Gedcoms.

Me, my son & my nephew all got 1 match dated the 26th. All different people.

I have 2 matches from the 19th, 1 match from the 25th and 3 from the 26th. 1 is Scots/Irish 4th to remote and the rest are 5th to remote. One match from the 26th has no ICW matches with me and the rest of my list.

My dad has the same matches from the 19th and 25th. 2 of his matches from the 26th are listed as his 4th cousins. He has a 3rd match from the 26th that I didn't get. That match not only has ancestral names but also a gedcom. Looks like we have the family name of McCloskey in common.

My son was the prize petunia with 3 matches on the 19th (2 from his granddad), 2 on the 21st, 1 on the 25th and 3 on the 26th (1 from my dad which is listed as a 4th cousin to all of us. The rest are 5th to distant). As usual his matches tend to be colonials who had Irish and or Scottish immigrant ancestors.

My other son's sample should have been marked as received by now by the lab but nothing yet which is making me a bit anxious. By my reckoning it should have been with them since the 14th or 15th.

I have one new FF match dated yesterday, 4 Sept.'14 (now at 479). He is a Finn, judging from the list of surnames, which are all Finnish (as far a I can tell). I can't tell by the email address if it is USA or Finland, but it seems to be the latter. How am I related to a Finn, I wonder. 26.49/8.08 cm.

If you ever figure out your Finn please let us know how it happened. I have one like that too. An American who only has Finnish ancestral lines as far back as he can go. Struggling to figure out where our forefathers paths crossed.

Superficially and vaguely, I can conjure up three scenarios in my crystal ball. 1) My relatives in Minnesota or Wisconsin married into the Finns. 2) My old colonial connections to New Sweden... 3) My tiny L664 subgroup in Norway were really Forest Finns who arrived from Finland into Norway. I have a Finnish Y-DNA match from SW Finland. Now that I look at the first scenario again, I doubt that one.
