New Matches Coming In

I hit the 1000 match mark today!

I have 35 FF matches with known tree relationships. About another 40 matches without trees that I have a good idea of the common ancestor or close to common ancestor.

I wouldn't be this far along except for using a chromosome data spread sheet.

Oh! and three confirmed gedmatch matches.

My mother hit the 250 match mark today and I hit 150. Since my mother has 2936 matches at Ancestry and I have 1485 at 23andMe, I can't say I'm thrilled exactly!!!

My mother and I got the same 3 new matches today. One of my double cousins got 2 new matches. Nothing for her brother or my father.

Not one of these 5 new matches has posted any surnames or tree!

At Ancestry, my mother never had anything closer than 4th to 6th cousins, but she got two 3rd cousins there last week. The first one has a tree attached to his DNA results, but I saw no connection. I contacted him and he said he was adopted and his tree was that of his adoptive parents. Now, why would you attach the tree of your adoptive parents to your DNA??? The other one turned out to be easy.

I'm up by 2 more, with 380 total. I wish matches would come to me and tell me how I'm related.

Mystery match +

A new mystery match for my dad who I suspect has hidden French ancestry. My mother gained a southern U.S. colonial descendant and two Nordic types, one who is definitely Swedish and the other a mixture of Swedish and Finnish ancestry. I share a Norwegian match with my dad and a Swedish-Finnish one with my mom but also gained a Norwegian one who does not show up on either of my parents' lists.

We had been piddling along for some time now with 1 or 2 matches for each of us at a time. Yesterday though was much better. I got 8, my son got 4, my nephew got 6 & my cousin got 3. The closest for my son & nephew were 2 different 2nd to 4th cousins. Almost all of these matches were all different for all of us. Only 1 was shared between 2 of us.

Chromosome Browser Offline

Hi,

We have taken the chromosome browser offline in order to make some changes. Trying to send matches to it will not work until it is back online. Sorry.

I have 5 new matches, but when I try to mark them in for the chromosome browser, the server just spins. Tried yesterday too. Unacceptable.

My mother got 2 new matches today. One of them is her 4th closest match after known relatives. She matches me also.

Six new matches this morning for my mother: 3 Swedish people, a southern U.S. colonial descendant, a mystery match and a New England colonial descendant (the last match I share with my mom). No new matches for my dad and I received one additional Swedish match -- I don't share that Swedish match with my mom.

My dad had one Norwegian grandmother and my mother had one Swedish grandmother.

I find it interesting that the "Last Matched" date on the summary page does not match the date of my most recent match.

That was broken a few weeks ago (perhaps in an attempt to fix the bug which was sending out bogus "close matches" messages), and has not yet been fixed.
