New Matches Coming In

Mine look just fine. I only see them on the chromosome browser. That is where I usually see them when they first come in. Later they appear on the matches page. I have played with the info I see, and have identified one of the many new matches as a relatively close cousin.

These are not new matches. There is some kind of bug. My one close and immediate relative shows up on three different pages. All my matches from page 1 also all show on page 6. Just to name a few of the problems with whatever the heck is going on.

For what it's worth, my matches:

FF Matches downloaded two weeks ago: 2355
FF Matches (Advanced Matching, today): 2381
FF Matches (Regular match page, today): 2521

The Advanced Matches increase is far more typical of what I expect. I haven't had time to analyze the difference between the latter two above.

I was wrong. I'm not sure which ones, but I lost some, and gained some, for a net increase of 6 (from 74 to 80). All the ones I gained are quite distant - longest segment less than 10cm.

What's going on?

All kinds of old matches indicating they are new matches?

My grandmother's Population Finder results posted today - expected test results aren't due until 5 Dec. So very happy. Hopefully this means her FF matches will be coming through soon. The crazy thing is that I still haven't received the results for another kit I'm managing, which was batched 2 months before this kit was

Woo hoo!!! 3 new matches today. So went from 74 (last week) to 83 (today). Now, I think I lost some, but am not sure which ones, so it is a net increase of 9.

I have 5 new matches according to chromosome browser, but I cannot see them in my actual matches yet. I still have all those "new" matches with old dates from the other day. I'm still not sure what to think of them. And I can't imagine that we all had matches who all of the sudden decided not to be marked private.

I sure wish FTDNA would explain what happened in the past week with Family Finder. They do after all have a NEWS section on our home page, and a RELEASE NOTES section. One would think there would be an explanation there.

During the last week, I have also had many “new” matches that had older match dates. I wrote to customer service about this and I received this reply from the help desk: “We have recently refined our matching algorithm and you may have received new matches. The Match Date listed will be the date their test was completed, rather than the day the refinement was completed.”
