One sort of new match, that I didn't pay much attention to, and is on or about page 6, shows an interesting surname. It is German; Klingenberger. Ah yes, I remember it well, as Maurice Chevalier said in some movie or other. There is an ugly Medieval castle in far NW Bavaria called Mespelbrunn. It is surrounded by a wide water moat (Wasserschloss). There is a restaurant there, with tables scattered around outdoors for summer visitors. One specialty of the house is wild sow and Klingenberger rot Wein (red wine), a local red wine from nearby Klingenberg. You can Google Mespelbrunn castle.

When I'm bored, I sometimes while away time by browsing my matches list (now 24 pages), to see if any of those surnames ring a bell. There is one with a bunch of names that at first glance seem unrelated. But it has a name from Scotland that connects to Canadians that are connected to my U5 haplotype (Massachusetts clade). I'm sure this name (Hendry) is not connected to me, since it latches onto that line relatively recently. But a couple of others are given as being from Wales. Hmm... Joan Plantagenet married a Welsh prince and had babies by him. Is it possible to have an 8+ cm segment from 7 or 8 centuries ago?Last edited by PDHOTLEN; 6 July 2013, 06:18 AM.

Missing new FF matches?
According to FTDNA's chromosome browser a batch processed on 1st July produced 8 new matches for me but only 4 of these people have appeared in the Family Finder match list. There is no trace of the missing 4 at any earlier date so I wonder where they are lurking?
A rather strange thing is that the missing ladies and gentlemen do seem to be the closer matches according to the chromosome browser and this strikes a chord since I seem to remember a similar phenomenon a while back when there was all the turmoil surrounding the build 36/37 changeover/psuedochangeover/unchangeover.
Has anybody else experienced this kind of thing?

RE: Missing new Family Finder Matches
I also noticed missing matches in my Family Finder list. I had six new matches on July 1 that appeared on the chromosome browser but only three of them appear in my Family Finder list. I have searched for the missing three by name, date, and every way possible but they are just not on my Family Finder list. The chromosome browser also shows a total of 439 matches while the Family Finder list only has 436 matches.Last edited by justsmith; 6 July 2013, 10:53 PM.

I see this match and another match (allegedly Welsh) match on chromosome 11, although slightly offset from one another. That historic prince had a few children by mistresses before he married Joan Plantagenet.
As for Prince Llewelyn ap Iowerth, he was good at making daughters. But he only produced two sons, one being by Joan.Last edited by PDHOTLEN; 7 July 2013, 11:02 PM.

Same here.
I was a little more disconcerted to note that the # of matches in the summary above the chromosome browser hadn't changed, despite the inclusion of an entirely new name in the match list.
I have to admit that I haven't kept super precise notes on a daily basis, so it's possible, I suppose, that this "new" guy I noticed this morning had actually been on the chromosome browser before, but just made it to the match list today.
But even that doesn't make me feel all that warm and fuzzy. It shouldn't take 10 days to complete upload from the chromsome browser to the match list stage.

Tonight when I went to look in my chromosome browser a name appeared in the list that I never saw before. Sure enough when I went to the matches page and sorted by most recent there he is. Dated July 1, 2013. I wonder what is going on. Maybe I should scroll through every page in my chromosome browser and make sure I don't see anymore new names there.
