New Matches Coming In

Back home again.

All former matches have returned. Thank goodness! Eight new ones for my mother; one for my dad. Most new matches are shared by me and one or the other parent.

All of the kits I have have gotten their matches back and each had new matches. We have more pages though so I think some are older but we are just getting them now.

I got (only) two new matches dated Apr 16 for my mother's kit. For my own kit, I got no new matches.

Anybody else get anything new on Apr 16?

Looks like they snuck those in! Four for me (usually I get 30-50 at a time), all extremely remote.

As for me, I don't have anything newer than from 4/2/2013, that I noticed in browsing down the list (21 pages). And still at 208 matches.

Zero for myself, my mother, and my cousin, but surprisingly, my father got a new one, a 5th to remote cousin, bringing his total to 15. Obviously a Sicilian connection, perhaps in the match's Genovese line, but my Genovese ancestors lived in the 1700s and my Dad's match appears not to have traced her Sicilian ancestors back beyond 1840

The matches my mother received and keeps received every time a new batch comes are the same people over and over again ( me too). There is one guy who has been showing up as "new" on our list since February and it is quite annoying. Then there is a father/daughter duo who also show up with a new match date every time. There is clearly something wrong with their system. This one guy I had marked as a distant cousin for the "in common function" and of course that disappears every time they re-relegate him to the top of the list as the newest match. They have people that have been on my list for 6 months or more as new matches from April 2013.

When will they fix all of this?

My two closest matches, i.e. with the biggest shared segment, are suggested as 3rd cousins. Being as how this is autosomal, that could include descendants of other wives/husbands that I usually don't bother to add to my tree(s). I mean, these people are probably really strangers.

My son got 1 match (4th to distant) on April 16. Nothing for me & my nephew.

(But Mom did get 50 new matches at Ancestry this week.)

I got 3 matches net (didn't check to see if I lost any). So from 51 to 54. Though none of them match up with any of my other matches... One looks very interesting, and if it is really a relative, a definite match to my deceased father's side, which is wonderful.

Three new matches...all remote. One looks very interesting to me though...something fun to research I hope. Three is not a lot, but a windfall when I consider how few and far between matches (of any type) are for me. I have never had an mtDNA or Y-DNA match...not even one.
