  • Thanks everyone for your input. AND the only interesting thing now that I have heard with this Build 37 business is some of you guys getting your Gedmatch matches here now!

Taz hopefully you will get some back soon.

Ok nighty nite everyone. Hopefully it will be all fixed towards everyone's liking soon. I need to stop playing with my DNA. I have to work in the real world tomorrow. Not that the DNA isn't real!

    • The message I posted in a couple of other strings from an Information Specialist at the Family Tree DNA Helpdesk is that: 1) they recommend against doing any Family Finder analyses for about two weeks, and 2) they will post a message when they are confident that everything is alright.

Of course, the change this evening may have fixed everything. They have been working on a number of bugs.

      • I'm off for the evening myself, will go play World of Warcraft and hope tomorrow some of my pages are back at least, if not it's time for the help desk. Thankfully I'm retired...

        • Well, in addition to losing about a third of my matches, I have not had a new one since they 'fixed' this thing. I guess no one else on this earth is related to me anymore. And some who I thought were, turned out they were not, after all. I was always hoping for a discovery of some kind, an unexpeted and unknown first cousin popping up on my list. Or at least a more distantly related member of either some European Royal House, or of some obscure tribe in the Arabian desert. Anything, except having no more FF matches.

          • I know family finder is not fixed yet because one of my accounts still does not have her niece listed, even though she is listed in advanced matching and chromosome browser. I am anxious to use the "in common with" feature for this match.

            • Can I ask what date was your new match for? I got a new match but it says it was on 3/3/13??

              Interesting

              • I got one match on 3/3 and one on 3/6. That's quite odd.

The date is 6-2-2011. It matched on GedMatch, but not on FTDNA, until yesterday. Hmmmmm lol!!!!!

I received one new match. But that was on 3/3/13 according to the date checker on FF. As of today I have nothing so I am baffled if I gained a match three days ago ahead of everyone.
The one new match is 3/6. Another weirdness: The 24-hour "new matches since" gave my mother that one new match, as well as me, and then I had two others on my list. One of them was also there on my mother's chromosome browser as a remote cousin, but not on the match list, even though he was on both my match list and chromosome browser. Since then, he has dropped off my match list but remains on the chromosome browser (as a projected third cousin). There really is no figuring this out.

Any you and I, mollyblum, are projected 5th-remote, and an mtDNA match.

                    • I may have been overlooking these but I don't think so. I think one of my kits just had three new matches show up. Two of these are dated 23 Feb the days after most of us last had a fair number of new hits and another on 6 March.

                      • Really? I don't see you on my list? You must be Jewish if you are an MtDNA match. I mysteriously also seem to have received a match on the 6th and some matches that showed up from February that were not there last week. My MtDna changed yesterday to H1 and then I had over 40 pages of matches which have disappeared. Now I am back to my K haplogroup and my 9 pages. Very strange.

                            • And yet more new matches since earlier today. These are dated 13th March.

                              4 for me
                              3 for my wife

                              5 for my son

                              • I just checked my kits.

                                Mom 4
                                Myself 1
                                Dad 0
                                1st cousin 0

Dull as usual. Nothing closer than 4th to remote. Only one with surnames and tree. None look promising.

I'm glad I tested Mom at Ancestry. Yesterday she got 16 new matches there, most of which were either private, had no tree, or had tiny trees, but there were two who had large trees and both were descended from the same line in VA, though one had common ancestors a lot further back than the other. But it's one of the lines I need matches in to prove a theory!

I just wish FTDNA had an autosomal database the size that Ancestry has. A dozen or more new matches 3 or 4 times a week is great. You start seeing patterns, though it's much too much work with no search engine.
