Cannot Access Family Finder Matches



No problem opening the FF Match page; however, it will not display any matches. "Error 503. Service is unavailable." Is it just me or is the system overwhelmed at present?

Big (and small) content providers use Varnish to get the most out of their web-servers. But just now, FTDNA has more pressing problems on their hands/

Thanks - It is now intermittent but workable. I lost about 5 pages and hubby gained over 10.

Two Affymetrix (remember that?) matches have returned that disappeared with the original Illumina chip upgrade!

Now do we contact our matches or will some disappear when the chip is upgraded again?

Funny you should mention that! I received a "new" old Affy match I lost in 2011 during the Affy-Illumina upgrade also. The match date for the "new" match is 8/2/5/10.

I am not contacting anyone until FTDNA gets the bugs fixed.

I received 23 new matches in the recent Build release, and one is now my strongest and most successful to date. Within 10 minutes of getting g-grandfather and gg-grandfather names from the match, we made a paper trail link back at my 5th great-grandfather. We may be able to make another link with another matching surname from the same ancestral county.

Update: found another match at a 3rd great-grandfather. So, in this case, the new build really worked.

Yeah, I have no matches either- though I assume it is more a case of them not being accessible right now.

On 3/3/13 I apparently gained another very distant match. I think they are fiddling with things again and adding peeps that got dropped during the upgrade and maybe rearranging things. Not sure if I lost anyone as my total page count stayed the same. I did a search by date after someone else posted that they got one new match.

I doubt this is from a new batch as I am Ashkenazi and always get more than one per batch. Even if they are all 5th cousin and beyond (which this was).

Blah.
