New Matches Coming In

All 4 of the accounts I manage got FF matches, anywhere from 3 to 10, all dated 2/10. Also got a couple of distant Y-DNA matches dated 2/9.

None of the names in the FF matches look familiar, so I'm assuming these are holiday sale FTDNA kits, not transfer kits from 23andMe.

I think you may be right. I got 4 new ones, none close, and the names are not familiar. However, I don't know the names of several hundred of my 23andMe matches.

I just wish people would include a surname list and Gedcom if they have one! None of my 4 had any info. Hopefully they will add it later.

my wife's Family finder from batch 445 has come through dated the 10th 63 matches 4th to distant is closest
one to a 5th to disatant to one i have distant match with and likewise one to my father.
12 new matches between other 3 kits i am working with.

These days, I am grateful for any matches that show up on my list or that of a relative. Tonight we received a grand total of 4 new distant cousins (4th and 5th) between us. A few ancestral surnames look familiar and one ancestral homeland noted is the same as that of my great-grandmother (Sweden). So overall, as far as my family history search goes, it was a good day. Hang in there everyone! All those little bits and pieces of information we are gleaning from this site will add up!

I just got 11 new matches dated 10 Feb. One with a gedcom and one with surnames. I think these are from the sale and not transfers.

I know of one person whose order was Dec 15 20111 and results just in now. But maybe they did not send kit right away?

51 new matches dated 2/10/12 including one probable second cousin with the exact same name (first, middle, and last) as one whom I already had. She must have taken the test again. I wonder why. The longest block is identical but the total amount of matching is slightly off.

I had that happen with one of my matches. I think it is a glitch. This person already took the test twice and doubt she would do it a 3rd time.

In this case her last name is all in caps, while in the first one, only the initial letter was capital. In any case, I'll write to ask her what it is about.

I had nine new matches for 2-10, with three of them being on the same segment of chromosome 8. Now my total is 98.
My brother had five new matches for a total of 94.

Nope! I asked her why she had done 2 tests - she has always shown up with 2 tests. Her family claims they had American Indian heritage and she took the test again and this was awhile back, to prove to them that her results were what they were and not showing American Indian ancestry. I really doubt she would do that a 3rd time.

3 new matches for me and a massive 6 for my wife including a predicted 3rd and also a predicted 4th cousin. Mine were all the usual 5th to distant.

About 6 weeks to go before my parents results come in to help narrow things down a bit. Still waiting for a dna match with a corresponding paper trail match.

I can ask her, but if she did a 3rd test would expect her to show up as a 3rd match as to that name. The other 2 matches in her name are in 2 separate accounts.
