In another post I wrote grandmother. I got confused there because it is my matches daughter that I have been communicating with for a number of years in regard to genealogy. So not to be dumb it would make her and I first cousins three times removed or second cousins twice removed?
I have to add it is really nice to see the science confirmation of this. I found my matches daughter on Ancestry's message boards a few years ago. From there we have been communicating via e-mail working on this line, we have never met. I know that people have been talking about different ways that FTDNA can improve. This is one of them. They should somehow offer a message board where one can specifically inquire about surnames or geographic areas. I know sometimes we do it here, but I don't think it is enough.

1796, There is an email icon under the names of your matches so that you can email them directly. Enter "FamilyTree DNA - FamilyFinder Match" in the subject line when making initial contact.
Another of the icons is for leaving notes for yourself, such as when you sent an email, whether or not they respond, and if you are able to identify your common ancestor.

Go to your Family Finder - Matches page.
In Filter Matches By: Relations: (select New Since... from the drop-down list)
A date will then appear under it labeled New Since:
That's the date I'm referring to.

Thanks andbro
The facts
My match:
Chromosome 2 from position 232469261 to 240803099 for a total of 18.18 cM.
Same match and my mum:
Chromosome 2 from position 228461696 to 236197047 for a total of 14.32 cM.
Chromosome 2 from position 236705536 to 240803099 for a total of 8.37 cM.
A break in the segment (latter) stopped the cM being +22cM!
1. Should I treat this as a cM anomaly, after all FTDNA are saying I am a closer relative to this person than my mum?
2. Does anybody else have this recombination 'event'?
